the infamous playground...

kindra is not a huge fan of the "first day of school". i mean, once she gets there, she is fine but there are always a few tears shed as i gently ease her into the classroom. it did help that there were some old friends in her class this year too...and one that is, how should i put this, um, sometimes not so nice. hahaha. now i'm not about to bash a 7 yr old so i'll just move on with that but let's just say that she ssstttrrriiikes again. meaning that already, this morning, there was another incident.

kindra was excited that one of the new girls to our neighborhood was going to be in her class and was going to make her feel "welcome" and "included". well long story short, when she welcomed her at recess to "all be friends", the bestie or sometimes beastie, told the new girl to "say no. you're not our friend today" to kindra. boooo. seriously booooo. i have no idea what was said but i do know that kindra went and played with some other girls. (and yes. i know that this incident bothered me more than it did her!?! and yes. i know that this is only grade 2 but still)

so when she told me this story i said "well kindra, next time just tell her to stop being silly and that you can all be friends and do something fun together." in which she replied back "no mom. i don't even care. i just went and played with some other friends and i don't want to be mean and make anyone feel bad by calling them silly." "wow", i thought. "you think the word silly is mean?!" however, it did make me a bit happy.

1. my daughter does not care about following the leader
and
2. my daughter cares about saying unkind things
and
3. my daughter actually does listen to what i am saying

too funny. one of the normal events that happen on a playground but as a parent, you hate when you might think that "mean girl" activities might be involving or happening to your child!? hehehe

anyway....

ps...and i also received the best news on our drive home after school today. "nope. i'm not gona crush on or marry mitchell like i thought i would like last year. that was so 1st grade and this is so gona be 2nd. but he still is cute but nope. i'm over it" hehehehehehehehehehehe i'm over it? now i wonder where she's heard that quote before??? hmmmmm??? hehehehehehe!!! love it!!!

and it's even better....

two of the conversations that i heard today from this daughter of mine...

1. "my heart is being pulled in two ways. 1. i don't want to be away from my mother but 2. i can't wait to see mitchell and my friends of course too, but really mitchell...." (the crush boy oh my!)

2. "mom those dang "frightning flys" (yes. she said "frightning flys") are in my tummy and won't let me fall asleep! why do they have to come and make me so nervous?

i love it! hehehe

My Kin...

i have said it a number of times, just how important this little girl is to our family, how much joy she brings to my life, and the love that she gives to my heart. she and i are so much alike. i can already see so many similarities. and yes, at times that is very scary but i know that we'll make it, no matter what. i am her mom but her best friend and always want her to know and respect that she can always confide in and talk to me.

i will miss her silly imagination and her gorgeous brown smiling eyes especially when she giggles with utter excitement at what she has just done!
one of her many sand castles...
her flower creation that she made for my birthday cake ;)
so this was the first year that kindra did ballet. she couldn't decide if she enjoyed it or not and to be honest, i think it was more about the "making friends" in her class that she was more worried about. i could not wait to see her performance and wondered how much she had actually paid attention...

and yes. my best attempt at doing her hair like this??? what the??? lol...
i wish, WISH, that they had allowed us to video her performance because it made ME giggle with excitement! she did SO GREAT! her dance moves were right on and she did not forget anything. it made me SO PROUD and so giddy. it is the best part about being a parent and it makes the hard times worth it! xoxo
smile kindra...

kindra has a crush. oh my but yes. a crush on this cute boy. his older brother was in my 3rd grade class and he is just as cute and nice. it's been funny to see how she acts around him and about him. i laugh too because i remember the first boy i was "in crush" with....cameron miller. and i laugh too when kindra says "i'm falling in love with mitchell, mom!" so yes, we've had lots of talks about what it means to "fall in love" with someone and when it is that you "fall in love" with someone. yeah.

kindra and rebecca on the last day of school last year...
silly times...

i love you kindra ann....

Wow! I Mean WOW!!!

i am so glad that we were able to get tickets to this! my friend who lives in vancouver and who was on the stage crew while they were just there, said that i had to go no matter what! through luck, i got 2 tickets and invited one of my besties, staci, to go with me! i am so glad that we could go see this together since she is moving in 10 days to california :(
i loved this! LOVED this! so different than "wicked" which is expected but so great! the costumes, the performances, the songs, the mannerisms, the animal portrayals, it was ALL AWESOME!!! i can't even explain in words how great it was!
the friend who i got the tickets through, nicole, staci, and i right before we got to go backstage...
so we were not able to take pictures backstage, but i got a "vancouver hookup" to go and check it out. loved seeing the animal costumes and seeing how organized it was. for the number of actors, it sure seemed small back there but i'm sure that they have it down to a science! my favorite animals were the giraffes, the cheetah, and the hyena's of course. (since from all of the animals that are from this movie, that is the one that kindra loves and wants to be for halloween? yeah.)

like i said, great performance and a great day!

My Looooooong Afternoon...

just in case you can't read what this sign says, let me tell you:

you can expect your visit (including wait time) to be 1.5 - 2 hours (for new or returning patients) if there is an emergency, your visit could be between 2-4 hours. thank you for your patience.

and let me be the first to tell you that they are not kidding. and when did they ever have my patience??? grrrrr :(
and i can't help but share the best comment of the day when kindra saw this horse while we were up at her eye appointment....

"mom? do you think that this is a girl or a boy horse? oh wait. never mind. (as she quiets to a whisper) it's a boy because he's got a big painted blue wiener."

awesome kin. thanks. i got it. lol. come on (as i am shaking my head in disbelief and pure comedy!)
