It's Only A Matter Of Time....

Carter's Cougars

So don't you just LOVE my Basketball hoop?!? The one that is almost 50 yrs old? I am happy to tell you that it's been getting used and abused by Carter! Meaning that he has been practicing like crazy! Every day after school, that's what he does...practice foul shots!

Of anyone, besides me being his Mom, my Dad is the one who feels the most pride. Basically because he and my Grandfather built this Basketball hoop back, waaaay back, in the day. It also proves the point that once upon a time, "things" were built tough and durable...not so much these days....

But anyway I am so proud of Carter for sticking to it. Though my patience may disagree, I have loved watching him, little by little, improve every day. I have loved "coaching" him and teaching him the "proper" Basketball technique. I also feel a sense of pride for seeing Carter become a "real Basketball player" ,as he puts it. It makes my heart so happy to see him getting excited about a sport that I also love! Once again I have learned that "it's all mental" and you just NEVER know....?

Then the other night i saw this.....

So yeah. Who knows. I've always said "one day when I get my million" so maybe this will be the way?!?

I love you Carter boo.....

Just "For Funny"...

I was organizing some of my "old" pictures and had to post some of them just "for funny". I laugh at how silly we were! I am driving, yes driving, down to Southern Utah with 2 of my besties.....
Here we are up at Yellowstone...me in the middle...
One of our many trips to Lake Powell...me on the left
Lindsey and Kelly at High School Graduation...
These pictures show us "Girls" on the trip we took down through Zions to Lake Powell...
And here we are last week on our night out for Staci's birthday. I still can't believe that we have all been friends for almost 20 yrs!?! How are we that old??? Seriously I still feel so young at heart!?! It's not possible!!! Anyway...like I said. Just "for funny"!

duh mom!?!"

so it looks like i've reached that point....

yesterday as we were on a walk, a neighbor friend was outside doing some yard work. i commented on her new and hip hair style. kindra, of course, also had to compliment her. as we were out of ears reach, she quietly confided in me.

"oh mom. she looks like a crazy rock star or a wild teenager!? it makes me kind of nervous!"

and of course i had to ask her...

"well what do i look like when i get all ready to go out for fun?!"

"duh mom! you look like a mom! sheesh!"

"oh. i do?!?!? oh. ok."

so yes. it's official. not only will i be turning 33 this year, but i've also reached THAT point!?!

grrrrrrrr.......lol and not if i have anything to do with it!!!

The Salt Lake Marathon 2010

SEE!!! Another picture that gives me some more proof about THIS!!!
Considering the fact that I needed to be at the start line at 5:30am, I knew that the only way possible for that to really happen, to really BE ON TIME, would be to stay over somewhere downtown. The kids were so excited anyway to be coming to the race, but now they were even more pumped. Hotels mean that a swimming pool/hot tub would be one of the nights activities. And yes. We did.
We went back to the room, got in the shower, got on our pajamas, and jumped into bed just in time for some good old "Hannah Montana" and "Phineas and Ferb". Carter was cracking me up! He was just singing away, being all silly, giggling uncontrollably, and showing off his darling and addicting smile! lol

...and Kindra just wanted to be left alone but I had to take a pic of her classic leg crossing!

The weather was PERFECT! I was so worried that the weather was not going to turn out so well! The weather-men had predicted possible snow/rain/sleet so I was sooooo worried! The first marathon that I ever did, the weather was the WORST! Pouring rain, spraying back up on to my face, freezing, soaked, need I go on? My friends joked that it could only get better!?! But I think that it traumatized me because I have vowed to never ride in those conditions again! Serious...lol!
I met my own personal time goal, which made me so excited! I placed 2nd, which also made me so happy but I can honestly say that it's not about what place I come in anymore. I mean, yes I LOVE that I placed the way that I did, but it is more about the actual participation, the competition, and my own personal goals. Plus I LOVE the things that I am able to think about and the clear decision making that I am able to do. I was trying to explain to someone the other day what the mental state of mind is during a marathon. I tried so hard to have what I was saying make sense. But finally I had to say that it was just something that you had to experience yourself to fully understand. I love it and always come away having a better understanding of a certain aspect of my life!

Great news too! The Utah Hand-Cycle Team put together a race that will now be put on the National Hand-Cycling calender! So it's official...The Tour de Utah will now be having it's first event later on this Summer! Waaaahoooo! I'll keep you posted on the exact dates so if you want to come up and check it out, you can! Participants from all over the country will be here to take part. It will be awesome and we're so excited! Also, if you are interested in becoming a local sponsor, know someone who may want to become one, or would like to donate to the team, let me know. It would be much appreciated!

Anyway, it was a GREAT weekend and thanks for all of the well wishes and support!

One Of Those Days....

I think that I just almost had a full on meltdown. No really!

On Fridays, Kindra has ballet at 5pm. I've learned that if we don't start getting ready early, we are late no matter what! Plus my family is on "Katie time" so we're pretty much screwed! lol
It was 4:40 and I was just finishing up with some stuff so that we would be all ready to leave at 4:45. But still, my kids could care less about being on time. All they are worried about are the cartoons they'll be missing. Driving me insane by this point. Then, what do ya know? At 4:44 Kindra declares that she needs to go to the bathroom...after we are all dressed. AFTER!!! We finally get out the door and we're late.

Surprise.

So we get over to her dance studio, in the door, and in to her dance room. I make sure she's all good and I head back out to the car, where Carter is patiently waiting. (miracle. for once he did not want to come in) I'm about to turn on the car when out of my rear view mirror I see Kindra crying and running out to the car. She doesn't want to stay. She feels like it's the first day of school all over again. She doesn't have any best-friends in her class. But I finally get her calmed down, I put my chair all together again, and we head back out to the studio door. All of a sudden, in front of us, a black Suburban was backing up, who did not see the black 4Runner that was behind him, who instead of honking, put the car in reverse so as to not get hit. And who do you think was right behind him in his blind spot? Yep. Me and K. I screamed, not because I was worried about me getting hit. I screamed for Kindra. The guy slammed on his brakes as I am yelling at him that he just almost freakin hit us. All I can do is tell myself to keep calm...keep calm. I get her back in her dance room and hang out by the window for a minute so that she can see me. The guy came in and apologized. I was nice, knowing that it was a total accident, could have happened to anyone, and no worries.

But still. Come on. Could it get any worse?!?!?!?!

So yeah. It's been one of those days!
