Pain...

Be prepared. This post will not talk about the positive attributes of my life. I really wish I could write about some good things right now but I can't. I'm hurting and in pain. I usually do good covering it up and have even come up with a fake facial expression so that most do not know that it's happening but right now? Don't feel like faking it.....

I hate when people call it "ghost pain" because they make it seem like it's pretend and not a "real" pain and that it does not influence so many other parts of our life because it does.

Kindra has a real bad cold, which I too am getting, so she has been miserable. I wish that my nose was running and my head only felt like it was in balloon land because I have those symptoms too but whenever I am coming down with something, the nerves in my hips and legs go out of control. Stabbing pain. Shooting pain. Zinging pain. Any word you can think of to put in front of pain pain, or KATIE'S HELL on earth pain works too. It sucks but it is what it is.

The weather does not help. I can tell when it is going to rain, snow, wind, etc...you name anything that has to do with cold and I can predict it. I just sit for a minute, think about which type of feeling is today's pain feeling, and I will nail it!

Anyway I just wanted to bitch and moan for a minute while I am listening to Kindra possibly hack up a lung. She'll be fine.....er maybe not since she is keeping me from a "Girls Weekend" that I will be missing out on but no I'll be fine too. It's just nice to be honest and real so that people really know who you are and what to expect.

"Hey? You like what you see, what you get with Katie Terry then let's hang out! If not, then keep on moving...." LOL

PS...Oh yeah. I also was late, as usual, getting Kindra to school, backed out of the garage without looking behind me all of the way, and yeah. Hit my garbage can and now my poor rear license plate is all mangled up. LOL hehehe I just have to laugh, right?!?

The Greatest Tubing On Earth...

Remember this place??? Let's just say that it is IMPOSSIBLE to not head out to what has now become known as "the family daredevil water and snow adventure slide"! My kids look forward to it EVERY year. My Uncle Sterling and Aunt Cindy are the best to let us come and take over their house for the afternoon, always having plenty of energy food and the afterwards hot chocolate to warm us up. (though I know that they love having us all get together to take part in the hard work that they do every season!)
Quote..."I am dead with all of the hard energy that I just got rid of!"
And last but not least, the kids conned my Uncle into taking them on a 4wheeler ride up to the top of the lane. He stopped at a sign and explained that it said "No Cars Allowed Beyond This Point" and so it was time to turn back.

"Well no we don't" they simultaneously said. "We can keep going. That says "No Cars Allowed" and we're not a car. We're a 4wheeler."

Touche....

So yes. Those are my kids. Very literal and not afraid to call you out on something, especially when it proves that they're right, you're wrong, and of course when it means that they'll possibly get their way.

Classic my 2. Very classic and again. Touche.....

Some More FALL Catch Up...

The kids became very bored with the idea of raking up the leaves into piles so they decided to go this route instead.....
...and I MUST say. HOW FUN!!!

Makeup...

This is my beautiful daughter. My 7yr old Kin who the older she gets, the more gorgeous she becomes. Her little freckles are my favorite and she gains a new one almost weekly. I covet her long and curly eyelashes that bring out her deep brown eyes. She, in my eyes, is stunning.

Last week I was forced to deal with something that I was not ready for. The desire to wear makeup because of a commercial that she saw promoting a makeup set?!?!?!? "Give the best answer that will get the best results" mode began instantaneously in my head!

"Kindra! You are 7yrs old and 1) you DO NOT NEED TO WEAR MAKEUP and 2) you are TOO YOUNG TO WEAR MAKEUP!!! Finger nail polish? Yes. Eye makeup? No." I told her. "You are so pretty without having to wear it and you do not need to have to deal with the hassel of worrying about it, Kin."

"You wear makeup and you're not ugly" (thanks...I guess, right? but good comeback) "and if you don't let me then that means you aren't my best friend!"

"Well then if that's what you think but you are wrong and in reality...I am your MOM first and your BF second. So as your MOM I am saying that we need to hold off a bit. End of story."

"SSSSSSKKKKKK (like an angry cat) Fine. But when you are dead, I am going to wear and do whatever I want!"

"OK." I snapped back.

She thought about it for 8 seconds.

"But Mom. I don't want you to die! I want to live with my BF forever!"

"Then you'll have to listen to and respect what I say. And believe me. I know what I am talking about. You may not...probably won't believe me but it's the truth. Now get your jammies and off to bed."

Yep. That's exactly what I'm dealing with around my house. The issue of makeup, self image, and exploration. Oh boy. What am I in for and lets pray that we'll make it without too much damage!!??!!

And let me remind you again of what I am in for cause yeah. She just turned...just turned 7!
LOL and oh boy!!!

I love you rin kin kin...even if you are getting a little too dominant and independent...hmm hmm cough cough...just like your Mom?!?!? Oops and the paybacks just keep coming. hehehehe

My Competitive Carter...

Back when it was warm and sunny...sniff sniff...Carter's school, Mnt Mahogany Elem, had a "Walkathon" that he wanted me to come to and see him in action. Well yeah! For sure!
He was off and he kept going and going and going and going and..... Yeah, I was even getting a little worried about his hydration and I'm so not that "paranoid Mom type"! But no worries! He did awesome and I was not surprised when he came home with this!
Way to go Carter and way to make us proud! Loves from all of us :)

Last Nights Car Ride Over To Dads.....

me "Where do you guys want to eat tonight?"

kindra "I want to go to "The Olive Garden"!"

me "No Kindra. Something cheap and not tonight."

kindra
"I am not eating unless it's at "The Olive Garden"."

me "Kindra stop. No."

kindra
"Mom then when???"

me "I don't know....." (starting to get so annoyed and frustrated!?!)

carter
"Remember Kin what Mom promised before? When you win the million dollars from "The Amazing Race", we can eat there EVERY night!"

kindra "Oh yeah. You're right! OK."

me LOL in my head!!! SO LOL!!!

Can I just say that I LOVE THESE 2!!!!!!

Ski Utah!!!

When I woke up for last weeks "snow day", I knew that it was going to be a great one! The storm was a brewin which meant that the snow was going to be perfect for the downhill skiing part of the day!
Like every Wednesday morning, it started off with some more hard work, but mostly with some more goofing off! LOL

Ok so here is where the BEST part of the day began...I am SO SERIOUS!!!
I can not even describe how perfect the conditions were up at Snowbird! It was absolutely gorgeous and I wish I could have just sat on the lift taking pictures! WOW!!! As I was over skiing and practicing up on the techniques, my kids were over having their first ski lesson and they were so excited, as was I.....

...me on the lift scanning to see what I could! That is why I sent over the camera so that I could see how they did.
..." french fries, pizza, french fries, pizza, french fries" was what they talked about on the way home! IE...How to go fast and how to slow down and stop....

Another great day on the mountain. Days like this, as a family, are so great to have! The older the kids get, the more I understand how important activities like this are needed. I love being able to do things TOGETHER so that not only do they watch "my things", but I get to see them enjoying and participating with me. I have realized this year that bitching about how bad I hate the snow does nothing for me except make me negative about something that is reality. It does not change it or take it away so what's the point? Instead, like life's other challenges we all face, I am embracing it, taking it head on, and getting the positive things I can get out of it. And guess what??? I AM LOVING IT!!! I am realizing once again just how "mental" things are! You are a pessimist and it will be miserable. You are an optimist and it will be fun! JUST LIKE LIFE! The big question is....WHY CAN'T I JUST REMEMBER THIS LESSON THAT I'VE LEARNED SO MANY TIMES?!?!?! LOL

Oh well. Maybe one day. Hmmmmm? Who knows but what I do know is that this was an AWESOME day for my 2 sidekicks and I to have!

The Kick "A" Killer Cardio...

Since I have become a little anal when it comes to scratching up my new bike, I have decided that I'm not going to have my hand-cycle out here this year....

Though this has become my new favorite room of the house, I've resorted to finding new ways of mixing up my workout. Thank goodness that my sister gave me these boots for Christmas, since my new workout will be involving the outdoors...
...and this heart rate monitor to track the progress!

Last week I headed up to Mountain Dell to experience what I discovered to be my new "killer" cardio workout. Holy Crap this kicked my butt and made me so sore in that "good" sore kind of way!
As soon as I "re-got" the hang of it, I had so many memories from when I was a child, growing up in Toronto. During the winters, our school field trips were days of X Country Skiing. I remember that though it was hard, that once you got the hang of it, it was the best exercise and ALOT of fun!

Let's just say that it was a GREAT morning and that every Wednesday at 9am, I'll be there...if anyone wants to join me?!?
