The Circus...Literally!

When I heard that Britney Spears was coming in concert to Salt Lake, I had an instant flashback back to my college days in Virginia. One of the "Girls Club Members" was a DIE HARD when it came to Britney. I'll never forget the day that we made the trip out to her concert! It was a CLASSIC memory that no one will ever forget! :) hehehe

I got Misty to commit to going since she would not be gone for Spring Break and then talked Jenny into coming along with us on the day of the concert. We met up and decided to go to "The Dodo" for dinner along with the rest of the women of SLC who were also going to the concert! If you look close...you'll see Reagan and Nicea from "Good Things Utah"! :)

Jenny, Katie, & Misty

OK...here is my take on the night...

Because of who I was with, it was a fun night. I'm still glad that we can say that we went because I do like some of her new music. I like the beat/rhythm, not necessarily the words. Overall though on the performance of Britney, I was disappointed. I figured that she would lip sync most of it but I thought that she would atleast sing some of her new stuff. I also had hoped that she would say more than "What's up Salt Lake City?" twice...I guess I can give her props for getting the city right?!? I did have to give her some credit since she is 10 yrs older and you have to feel kind of bad for her. You could tell that her dancers would rock her world if they were ever given the permission since Britney's moves were only a little pelvic thrust her and there :)

It sure makes you realize how old you really are when you go to your closet and can not find any "clubby or concert" things to wear so you end up looking like your age and someone who does not fit in...but in this case?...I'm glad! I was dying at what some of the girls were wearing! Are they not looking in the mirror and seeing that those things (and not their breasts) should not be hanging out? And where are their Mothers or at least their friends? I mean WHAT ARE THEY THINKING???

I was sad too because there was one weird part of the night that they called the freak show. It was all random music with sexual actions and video that I was disgusted at. Call me a prude but why does she need to go to that? It's like she feels that her talent is gone so all she has left is her ability to sell sex. The sad thing is that sex sells so I guess that's what she'll keep doing. I almost felt dirty and guilty?

One last thing that was hilarious. As the show was beginning, I kept getting wiffs of urine. I was so confused. Wiffs like when you're in a public elevator in New York that the bums constantly use as their toilet. Wiffs like the floor and the seats have been soaked in urine for months. I have told some about being cursed with the Terry nose and its sense of smell so when I got this wiff I knew that it could just be me and my sis smelling it since our nose's are so sensititve! Wiff. Wiff. I leaned over to Jenny and asked her what she thought. "Yeah. I'm pretty sure that the girl sitting next to us completely pissed her pants!" I laughed. Hard. Next I turned to Misty and had to ask her. "Yeah. I knew that you'd smell out the culprit." The wiff would come and go so it was impossible to know where it was really coming from but it will not be forgotten, that's for sure!

Lesson of the night? I'm OLD! Oh well. It is what it is and it's only going to get worse! GRRRRR!!!

:)

$50.02 Later...

Yes. The procrastinator Katie that I am...waited until the last minute to go and purchase the Easter treats. So my Saturday evening was spent at the new Smiths Marketplace that they just opened up in Highland. Thank goodness they were fully stocked with plenty of candy but the panic-er that I am just started shoving bags and bags of candy into my basket. I got up to the checkout thinking that I my $50 bill would be plenty. Not so much! $50.02 was the grand total. Since I had left my purse at home, that bill was all that I had. I turned behind to see some cute high school kids and with a bashful smile said "Hey guys. Can I borrow (I know it should be have...) 2 cents?" It's a good thing that our society can still help out complete strangers because if not, then my kids...ME...would have had one less bag of Cadbury Mini-Eggs!
As I was driving away, completely disgusted that I just spent $50 in candy (and yes I thought to myself..."That is 2 new shirts or a pair of shoes that I just lost!!!") I thought back to some of my own Easter memories. I also did not ever remember getting that much candy!
We would always have jelly bean hunts at our house. The best part was that my Dad would hide the jelly beans, lets us find them, collect them, and once again create a new hunt. He would do this like 3 or 4 times. I also remember going over to my Grandparents home for a hunt one year right before we moved up to Toronto. It was an afternoon that was spent searching for plastic eggs that we discovered were full of money...small change...but it was still money and NO. I can guarantee that it did not equal $50.02!
Kindra was so excited for the Easter hunt that they were doing for their class! Those kids were hilarious!

...some Easter activities...
It is so hard to fit 2 families and all of the activities that come with holidays into the one day! We made it work by inviting Trevor's parents down to come to church with us. Then they would be able to be there when the kids did their hunt and got their baskets.

Let the hunt...BEGIN!

I know that I'm a few weeks late but life has been a little crazy around here. My mind is going a million miles an hour and the things that I've found important in the past, have been put on hold. My blog has been one of them. I'll catch up but the thought of it has been very overwhelming! Like I said before...my time has just been better spent doing the other activities that needs to be done first.

I have been reflecting quite a bit on my own little family and the things that it needs. My catch 22 is what that is? Is it the somewhat selfish Mom who needs her own happiness's so that she will feel complete which will then allow the home front to be content...or is it the Mom who still has her own personal time but puts on the back burner the things that she thought she needed in her life so that she can 110% give her time to her children which then allows them to have all of the things that they need to live complete and full lives...or do you try to find a mixture, a balance of it both? Hmmmmm? I've asked this question to numerous friends and have gotten back numerous answers. It is such an individual and personal thing...

I've always had a problem with decision making because I fear the regrets. I've had one too many of those decisions that I look back on and realize that if I only would have done this...than this would have happened. I hate those because they haunt me!

Because of this I've learned to rely on the promptings...the whisperings of the spirit...the stupors of thought...the burning confirmations which direct me to do or to not do the things that are best for US...not me...not them...but US. I am so thankful for this blessing and for these answers because there has been alot of question lately :)

But back to the blog...Just wait. My Britney concert pictures are next!
