Fate or Choice?

in the 8th grade my class had to read romeo and juliet and then for extra credit, made us act out all of the parts.

paul was romeo.
as fate would have it, i was juliet.

all of the other girls were jealous but i had a slightly different take.
i told ms thomas that juliet was an idiot!
for starters she falls for the one guy that she knows she can't have.
and then she blames fate for her own bad decision.

ms thomas explained to me that when fate comes in to play, choice goes out the window.
at the ripe old age of 13 i understood that love, like life, was about making choices and fate has nothing to do with it.

maybe romeo and juliet were fated to be together.
but just for awhile and then their time passed.
if they could have known that before hand, maybe it all would have been ok.

i told ms thomas that when i was grown up, i would take fate into my own hands.
i would not let some guy drag me down, ever.

even now i believe that for the most part, life is about choices.
it is about putting down the poison, the dagger, and making your own happy ending.

would you say YOUR life has been more about FATE or about CHOICE?

I love this!! And I would say for me deffinatly both. Certain situations I know for sure fate had a hand. But in other situations thankfully I had the choice!!

i believe choice for me. but sometimes i'm weak and put the stupid boy ahead of myself. gross. working on it though.

this reminds me of the time i was in kindergarten and we were asked what we wanted to be when we grew up. everyone said a mommy or a daddy. i said . a mom but not a wife. i didn't want a husband. haha

Wow, blast from the past! This post comes to me at a very relevant time in my life. Thank you for reminding me that we have a choice.... I believe that the choices we make open up doors to fate.
