Carter's Field-Trip to Cabellas...

This weeks field trip for Carter's class was a trip to Cabellas and he had a lot of fun actually. I was surprised because when they had first opened we took the kids there and it was of no interest to them so I was glad that he had fun!
I met them there and surprised Carter that I had come so he was a little confused and then excited!
Of course checking out the gas cans and the engines...hehehe!
He wanted to take a picture of the zebra to show Kindra when we got home. Do you remember that commercial that shows the people's faces and then what animal they look like? Carter kind of looks like the zebra?!?
And now........the mother load of excitement for Carter and fear for me!!?!!

They have a kids shooting range that Carter could not wait to get up to. It was the guides way to bribe the kids to behave and stay attenive! :)

Carter just had to get on the banchee and do you see that guy in the background...he was so nice and he went and got Carter a helmet to put on to make it look and feel complete! His request was to trade in his (that stays at his dad's house) for this new red one!

Carter would now like one of these for the backyard to park his four-wheeler and bike in!

Here was our Cabella guide explaining why there was a scuba guy scrubbing the rocks inside the fish tank. "Mom, it is just like the guy on finding nemo!" :)

I am so glad that I can come and help out with their field-trip days. It allows me to experience these fun days with Carter and to make some new memories with the Mom&Carter combo!

I was "tagged" by Lyssa to complete this so here it goes...and I am going to tag those of you who are reading this who have not all ready been tagged yourself!

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Neither really but gift bags if I must

2. Real tree or artificial? Real tree. Growing up in Toronto, they did not have pre-cut trees for you to go and buy. That was my favorite thing about Christmas...Piling in the car and heading out to the tree farm, picking one, and cutting it down ourselves...just like the Griswalds!

3. When do you put up the tree? The first weekend of December

4. When do you take the tree down? By New Years Day

5. Do you like EGGNOG? My Mom always had our Christmas Eve "banquet" with Eggnog and Sprite so yes I love it!

6. Favorite gift received as a child? Everything the Christmas of 1989 and my cassette tapes of Tiffany, Bobby Brown and Glass Tiger! Wow, that sure dated me!

7. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes but not nearly like my Mom. She collects them and I hope to inherit them! :)

8. Hardest person to buy for? My Dad...He always tells me "I don't need anything"

9. Easiest person to buy for? My kids...right now at least!!!

10. Worst Christmas gift that you ever received? Whenever there is not at least one surprise but my parents never let that happen!

11. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail when I actually do them!!!

12. Favorite Christmas movie? Christmas Vacation, of course! and Nightmare Before Christmas

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Mostly online shopping for my kids starting in November and I go the week before for my family hehehe

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas gift? I have never re-gifted anything...riiiiight...but never a Christmas present

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Caviar at my Moms banquet and the chocolates and nuts that my Dad always gets a ton of because of his company kiss acers :)

16. Clear lights or colored on the tree? Prefer clear lights if it was only my tree but the kids love the colored lights so they win!

17. Favorite Christmas song? "Last Christmas" by George Michael Family tradition!

18. Travel at Christmas or stay at home? Travel when the kids are older but for now will stay home

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Not anymore :(

20. Angel on the tree top or a star? A Star

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Our family gifts on Christmas Eve but the whole shebang on Christmas morning

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? The Snow because I miss skiing and boarding way way way too much except I will be revealing a surprise this year.......so until then...

23. What I love most about Christmas? The excitement that I get from being the parent during this time of the year and seeing how fun and excited the kids get and hearing all of their innocent and naive questions that they ask like "do old people get presents from Santa too? I mean really, really old people?"

The Best News EVER EVER EVER to Start a Day!

My most favorite movie in this whole entire world is "Sense and Sensibility" and so when I saw this quiz on Lyssa's blog I was a little nervous to take it! What if I really was not like one of the Dashwood sisters?!?
I, of course, gave in and took the quiz and I was told that I could be either Elizabeth Bennet of "Pride and Prejudice" or Marianne Dashwood of "Sense and Sensibility" so I was ecstatic to take the latter of the two!

Every time we pull out the tree, out comes the movie as well. I can not wait for my kids to be mature enough to laugh right along with me!!
Carter could not wait to carry up the tree...go figure...but by all means work away! :)

Kindra fell in love with the "top" of the tree. "It's just so little and cute" she said. Oh boy!Kindra is also now obsessed with mittens or, like you can see here, putting socks on her hands and making her own pretend mittens! HOOOT hair, huh?!?

The Annual Get Together of 2007

Every year, the first weekend of Dec, those of us who were the BP's (sorry but I will not disclose what that is but those who made that up will know its meaning) of the class of 1995 have a little get together.
These are the friends who I endured, with a lot of adventure and rebellion mixed in, High School with. These are the friends who helped me to sluff, scam, cruise, and constantly sneak out, especially if we were at Lindsey's house! :)
Within this group of girls, there were little groups of those who were closer to each other than others, like in any high school and so it is ironic to see who has "lasted" the 12 years since we graduated. We have all gone through so much since that time....both events together and alone.
Emily, the porn star swinger, actually got a little teary as she listened to our conversations. To think of what our chats used to sound like as opposed to our chats now. They are so different! Different but they have improved greatly and no....she is not really a porn star swinger but I know that she will get a good laugh from that after the accusations that she received! Emily, your touch ups look great! wink wink :)

This years get together was a lot of fun. We of course had to gossip, had to talk about ex-boyfriends, had to talk about kids, had to laugh at old happenings and new happenings, had to pig out, had to talk about sex or the lack of, and had to just laugh, have fun, and be ourselves!
Next year we'll be at Lindsey's house so until then..........Merry Christmas!

'Tis the Season.....

When Carter pulled the "bunk-bed" stunt on me, this is what I was doing. Remember that today is December 1st and this is all that I have done compared to that of which I would have had done if this holiday would have been Halloween! I love Christmas (hate the snow) but it's just not the same!

When I woke up this morning and looked out the window, the first thing that I saw was the SNOW! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I knew what I was in for and what the reaction of the kids would be when they saw it.

Ok, fine....when I saw how excited they were to eat their breakfast just so we could get outside, it was fun but as soon as the ordeal to get them dressed and ready began, IT ALL WENT AWAY AND FAST! :)

I have to say that I am very happy that this is the first true snowfall that we've had this year and that it really was not so bad. I just have to not give a rats ace about the way that I look, dress warm, and just laugh! It is the only thing that I can do to keep me sane and smiling!
