the day before our trip down to
vegas, my car was chuck full...
chuuuuck full...and we had to get very creative when it came to our travels. it was pure chaos and complete comedy!

we had a full team of 12 girls, 6 in each truck, and we had an awesome "head" who had everything timed and planned perfectly. at the last minute we had a girl get injured who had to drop out. it was all timing too! our friend
angie had just called us hoping to get in on the trip so she was more than willing to come down to play and to run!
lol.
we're here and don't worry. yes. i got pulled over in
az and got a ticket. :)

poor
lindsey forgot the "wheelchair 101" and got clocked in the head getting my chair out of the back of the truck.
soooooorrrrryyyyy :(
lindsey and
shawn...
(
shawn ran too on another team)
nicole (head) and
kelly...
angie and
brenda...
snarfin down some carbs...lol...hehehe

so like the champ that she is, my
bff katie thomas, came over to the hotel the night before the race and curled my hair. she's the best! and i knew that the next 2 days i wanted stress free mess plus i had to see her!
day 1...
staci...

packing up of course in the RAIN!!!
grrrrrr....

looking back in fear that one of my chairs were going to fall out!
ipod's and
navigation's READY?

getting nervous...
lol
stop 1...
lake mead

another random run in with an old friend.
julie and i were both on the basketball team back at southern
virginia university...

truck decorating...

and the crazy is already coming out...
lol
angie aka "the miner" aka "the hedgehog"
LOL. we laughed HARD when she pulled this out for her nightly leg!

bling.
bling. "we're in this for the
bling!" yeah. right.
hehehe

i was soooooooooo thankful that the "ragnar" people followed through and put in "accessible" porta potties! such a relief to not have to worry about that like we did at the "ragnar wasatch back". just one less thing to worry about!

after a few near death crashes while off roading, getting high centered on a dirt hill of ginormous heighth, a few wrong turns, and cursing the incorrect course description, i finally made it back. i may have swore a few times and then just laughed about it. i will say that at some of those spots, in the dead of night, not a sound that's heard, it can be quite earie! i was just paranoid about running over a snake and a few times was fooled by some old tire shreds! lol. anyway. fun times like always...

day 2
so i took this picture right before i fell asleep. lindsey was driving, kelly was in the front, angie was running, and staci, brenda, and i, were in the back. the last thing i remember was the crack of dawn sunlight creeping out, the comfy warm interior of the back seat, the music still going strong, and the "watching" of angie still VERY important. i guess we all fell asleep...lol...except for lindsey of course...because the next thing that WE all remember was being woken to lindsey's voice as it yelled "i NEED you ALL to WAKE UP RIGHT NOW!!! i CAN'T SEE or FIND ANGIE! she disappeared miles ago and i've even driven back to where i last saw her. what if she sprained her ankle? and you left me all alone! i'm tired too! and i'm FREAKING OUT!" and she was! lol right then angie "the miner" and her awesome head lamp reappeared. phew. this was angie's FIRST ragnar, FIRST anything longer than a 10k, so we were a little protective of her. (though we've all now discussed what a "natural runner" she is!)

angie out in the desert...lol
after her leg, it was brenda's turn. it was pretty funny because 2 minutes after we started the drive, angie had her OWN little freak out. "wait! you guys! where's brenda???" we let the runner's fatigue be the reason for her duh-ness. "ang? she's RUNNING." lol "ohhhhhh."

our headbands that brenda made for us to wear was giving me a headache so while i was "resting" i took it off. it made it's way back on to my head backwards. together with that, our dollar necklaces, my black pants half way in, half way out of my blue ugs, i looked like a full blown wanna be gangsta. classic and awesome. lol

"we're in this for the bling"...our saying. "bling" meaning money and full on sarcasm because yeah right. like we were even good enough!? this was all about the fun which we definately had! i will say that the "ragnar wasatch back" did have a lot more "fun" in the air and the teams were more on everyones side, more positive, and more cheer-ing. it was waaaaaay more serious and waaaaaay too intense which was actually kind of a downer. :(

brenda and our new bff, the aspirin :)

and yes. these creatures we're roaming around. the trip was then re-named the "jackass show". i swear i almost was trampled by one at the end of my last leg. it was the most random and last thing that i expected to see roaming around in the wild!

AND WE'RE DONE!!! the race ended at the "red rock resort" which was off the strip on the west side of vegas. it was very nice not to mention the upgraded handicap suite that was so dang nice. living room, kitchen, master king, pull out couchs, 3 tv's, 2 bathrooms, and a great view! i will admit. the handi perc's are nice! hehehe :)

time to pack up :(

a night out for dinner after 2 exhausting days and then back on the road we were. angie and i had to get back for our kids church primary programs so were out by 6 am. the ride home went by so fast and i'll blame that on the good conversation and the life style comparing and analyzing that was going on! it's nice to be able to discuss topics in honesty. ;)

the souvenirs...
brenda's hand made bandanna's which were awesome and perfect! thanks brenda!

the medals and the bling...

and yes. the addiction has begun. we're already planning the next ragnar. it'll either be san diego, arizona, or napa valley so we'll see if we can get it planned and put together in time!
thanks ladies! it was pure comedy, great laughs, awesome one liners, great leg times, and the best "healthy" munching EVER!!!
love ya ladies!
xoxo
