Thankful Day #5...The BEST Birthday Present EVER---A NEW HOUSE!!!

"that house was the perfect house, whether you like food or sleep, or storytelling, or singing, or just a mixture of them all. merely to be there was a cure for weariness, fear, and sadness."

~~~jrr tolkien
here are "the before and the after" pictures...but realize that it's the old carpet that make it look so freaking nasty!?! right??? ;)
(they walled in and closed off this walkway)
(no more carpet!!!)
(my teeny tiny not so wheelchair friendly kitchen)
(where the walkway was)
(it's not so '60s looking)
(the 5 point wheelchair turn "master" bathroom)
(some of the pictures that they took during the demolition)
(this picture i took, through the fence, as i was dropping off the kids to school. i was dying, having to be kept in the "unknown"!?)
when we were planning the roberts makeover, "heart 2 home" did surprise me with the plan to also put in wood floors into my home. i was soooo thankful and excited!!! but i had NO IDEA about the rest of their plans!? when i found out about the roberts family, i could not wait to get involved because of my "wheelchair knowledge". they have 2 sons in wheelchairs who are not able to be as independent because of their own living conditions or at least they weren't....
(the work begins...)
let's just say that i was pretty embarrassed when carol mikita dropped by to talk to me. i had no idea that she had just been down to my house to do a story. they made me promise not to watch the news that night or to go online so that the surprise of what was going on at my house would not be ruined. as tempted and freaking out with curiosity as i was, i kept my promise. take a look here to see what she said....
(another through the fence pic)
(reveal day)
can you say shocked?! utterly and completely blown away?! every time i sat down to write this post i became overwhelmed, not being able to correctly put it in words, exactly how this act made me feel. even now as i write this, the same fear becomes apparent. how can i truly put in words the love and the gratitude that i feel? i've always said that "things happen for a reason" and that "you never know what door will open because of one small act" but now i have personal proof and belief to back these statements up.
had i not been in the right place at the right time, being able to recognize the promptings that will always guide me to where i am meant to be, none of this would have happened! i am thankful to so many individuals, companies, foundations in so many ways. not a week goes by that i don't have gratitude in my heart for what i've been given.
so yes. i am very thankful for our "new" home! i can also handle the fact that i turned 34 in may because that month i received the BEST birthday present EVER!!!
xxx
