As I watch the news this evening and the special broadcasts that are giving us the up to date news concerning Hurricane Gustave, the images of Hurricane Katrina are all too vivid. The devastation, the death, the sadness, the horror, and the feelings of "how in the hell did this happen to those of us in our country" still seem like yesterday.
Thank goodness that they were prepared this time around with the evacuations before Gustave hit and thank goodness that the terror did not hit down into New Orleans or the rest of the gulf cities that are along our coast.
It causes me to reflect on how lucky those of us who have not had to deal with this type of disaster really have been. We all have our own bumps in the road, but our region luckily has not had to deal with this type of disaster...not yet at least.
So tonight, thank your blessings, how big or small they may be, tell your family just how important they are to you, and pray to your God to continue to watch over us and keep us safe from the major disasters that could come at us, at any time, especially when we least expect it.
